Imagine leaving England for a few days, bringing together the people you love most and arriving at a beautiful French château where everything is ready for your wedding.

Rows of white chairs facing an elegant château. Flowers surrounding the ceremony space. Family and friends gathering in the gardens.

This was the beginning of a very special wedding at Château de Craon, chosen by a couple living in England to celebrate their marriage in France.

A wedding full of emotion, beautiful details and surprises — from the outdoor secular ceremony to a reception beneath a crystal marquee, a vintage photobooth and, later that evening, fireworks lighting up the château.

It was more than a wedding day.

It was a true destination wedding experience in France.

A French château wedding for a couple living in England

Choosing to marry in France when you live abroad is a very special decision.

You are not simply choosing a wedding venue.

You are inviting your guests to travel with you, discover somewhere new and share several unforgettable moments together.

For this couple, Château de Craon offered everything they had imagined for their celebration: the elegance of a French château, beautiful grounds and enough space to create different atmospheres throughout the wedding day.

From the moment guests arrived, the château became part of the experience.

And that is one of the things I love most about destination weddings in France.

For a few hours — sometimes for an entire weekend — a place like this feels almost as though it belongs to you.

An outdoor secular ceremony

The wedding began with a beautiful secular ceremony in front of the château.

White chairs were arranged facing the façade, with elegant floral arrangements creating a natural ceremony space.

A secular ceremony is particularly lovely for an international wedding.

It gives couples the freedom to create something completely personal: speeches from family and friends, music, stories, meaningful rituals and moments that truly reflect who they are.

For guests who had travelled to France, it was also the first emotional moment of the celebration.

Everyone was finally together.

In France.

In front of a château.

Ready to watch two people they love begin a new chapter of their story.

Creating an experience for the guest

A beautiful wedding is not only about the ceremony and the dinner.

It is also about everything that happens in between.

The conversations.

The glasses of champagne.

The laughter.

The little surprises guests discover throughout the day.

For this wedding, a wonderful vintage photobooth van added another playful touch to the reception.

Guests could step inside, take photographs together and leave with another memory of their time in France.

These details are especially important for a destination wedding.

When your friends and family travel from another country to celebrate with you, you want them to experience something special too.

You want them to remember not only your wedding ceremony, but the atmosphere of the entire day.

A reception beneath a crystal marquee

For dinner, the celebration continued beneath a beautiful crystal marquee.

A transparent marquee is particularly magical for a château wedding.

During the day, it allows the gardens, the sky and the surrounding landscape to remain part of the reception.

Then, as evening falls, everything changes.

The lights begin to glow.

The candles become visible.

The tables feel more intimate.

And the marquee slowly transforms into an elegant evening reception.

Different wedding professionals worked together throughout the day to create this experience.

Flowers, furniture, catering, lighting, entertainment and all the details behind the scenes had to come together at the right moment.

This is one of the most important parts of planning a wedding from abroad.

Your wedding should never feel like a collection of individual suppliers.

Everything should feel connected.

It should feel like one celebration, one atmosphere and one story.

A French celebration that continued into the night

As the evening continued, the atmosphere naturally changed.

Dinner became speeches.

Speeches became music.

Guests relaxed, celebrated and enjoyed being together.

And then came one final surprise.

And then… Château de Craon lit up the night

The guests stepped outside.

The château glowed in the darkness.

And above it, fireworks began to fill the sky.

For a few minutes, everything stopped.

Standing together in front of the château, surrounded by family and friends who had travelled to France for them, the couple simply watched.

After all the planning, the emails, the decisions and the journey from England to France, there was nothing left to organise.

Just one moment to enjoy.

A French château.
A night beneath the stars.
Fireworks overhead.
And everyone you love beside you.

These are the moments that stay with you.

Long after the flowers have gone.

Long after the music has stopped.

Long after everyone has travelled home.

Planning your wedding in France from abroad?

Perhaps you are reading this from London, Manchester or somewhere much further away.

Maybe France is already the place where you imagine getting married.

Or perhaps you have only just started dreaming about the possibility.

Planning a destination wedding from another country can sometimes feel complicated.

You need to find the right venue and suppliers, manage conversations from a distance, understand how things work locally and coordinate countless details before you even arrive in France.

This is where having someone here can make all the difference.

At Demoiselle Capeline, I accompany couples living abroad who have chosen France for their wedding.

I help them create the wedding they imagine while becoming their local point of contact here in France: helping with the organisation, sourcing the right professionals and coordinating the many elements that need to come together.

So when you finally arrive in France, you can concentrate on the reason you came here in the first place.

To celebrate.

To be together.

And to enjoy your wedding.

You bring your story.
France provides the setting.
Together, we create everything in between.

If you are living abroad and dreaming of your own wedding in France, I would love to hear your story.
